A woman in Cornwall has captured some footage of a cat that she claims was “as big as an Alsatian”.
Becky Abrey saw the ‘beast’ whilst she was out enjoying a lovely celebratory dinner in honour of her birthday.
Now, Becky claims that she’s always been sceptical about the many reports of huge cats around the area. Of course, that’s where the supposed ‘Beast of Bodmin Moor’ dwells, isn’t it?
However, she was convinced when one such ‘monster’ wandered straight out of folklore and into a nearby field.
Of course, not everyone is going to be convinced by her footage and – let’s be completely honest here – it looks like a cat.
However, Becky is adamant that the creature that she witnesses near Praa Sands in Cornwall was larger than your average cat.
The Penzance resident, out enjoying a lovely Sunday lunch for her 29th birthday with her fiancé Jon Jones, spotted the mysterious moggy from the pub car park and is now convinced that others who have seen such felines aren’t absolutely out of their minds.
She told Cornwall Live: “We had just had Sunday lunch and went for a walk on the beach and came back to the car and it was just on the field.
“It was the car park opposite the bar and looks up towards the field.
“I was on the phone with my fiance’s grandmother wishing me a happy birthday and just said, ‘there’s a big cat, I’ve got to put the phone down.
“I’ve seen so many articles about them and there are never any pictures of them and I wanted to get pictures and video.
“I saw the one this week and was thinking, ‘does it really exist?’. Now I’ve seen it and know that it does.
“I didn’t want to get too close and zoomed in and out so you can get some perspective. It was at least Alsatian-sized or bigger.
“When I read about them I always think, ‘it’s just a decent-sized farm cat’ but this certainly wasn’t.”
She’s lucky that she managed to get the video of the beast so that people can see its formidable size for themselves. Well, sort of, anyway.
Becky added: “It’s crazy. I still can’t quite believe it. Honestly, it was huge, far bigger than any domestic cat.
“I feel like I imagined everyone saw it. It’s like seeing the Loch Ness Monster.”
Obviously, there have been many such sightings like this one. Just the other week a bloke called James Stephenson saw a significantly larger than normal cat carrying a lamb across his back wall.
He then said it tried to attack his dog, and even went for him. Oh, and several normal cats have gone missing in the area.
The RSPCA actually investigated the footprints in his garden and confirmed that they were those of a large cat, but wouldn’t be drawn on whether it was a big cat such as a panther.
Do big cats and other beasts stalk the countryside of the United Kingdom? Perhaps we’re a little bit closer to finding out.
Or, perhaps these are just people’s pet cats.
