New footage has emerged showing the moment a drone bomb exploded over Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro while he gave a speech to a crowded event in Caracas on Saturday in what he claims to be an attempt on his life.
The clip, which has been widely shared on social media, shows a single drone hovering in the sky before suddenly exploding into flames above the packed event.
There were said to be two M600 drones, each carrying 2lbs of C4 explosive. One of the drones was said to explode above the President while the other was set to blow up directly in front of him, according to interior minister Nestor Reverol.
The footage we see here is believed to capture the first drone being detonated as it moved towards Maduro. Reportedly, the military managed to knock the other drone off course with the use of electronics. Just a regular Saturday…
Since the attack, Venezuelan officials have claimed that a series of drones controlled by far-right opposition and Colombian officials had attempted to assassinate the President at the military rally on Saturday.
However, in spite of the footage, there have been fire officials present at the scene who claimed the explosion was actually just a gas tank explosion inside a nearby apartment building.

In an address to the nation on Saturday evening, Maduro said: “This was an attempt to kill me. Today they tried to assassinate me.
“That drone came after me but there was a shield of love that always protects us. I’m sure I’ll live for many more years.”
The supposed attack happened on Saturday as President Maduro was addressing crowds of people on a podium alongside his wife, Cilia Flores, and high-ranking military officials.
While he told listeners: “To the conscious Venezuela, we are going to bet for the good of our country, the hour of the economic recovery has come as we need.”
He suddenly stopped and looked towards the sky as his wife recoiled in horror at the explosion.
Security teams then rushed to the President’s aid, covering him with shields in an effort to protect him from further danger. He was not harmed in the event.
Maduro has since called upon US President Donald Trump to join his fight against the ‘terrorists’ who were responsible for the attack and there have been several arrests linking to the attack.
“We have six terrorists and assassins detained,” Reverol said in wake of Saturday’s supposed attack, claiming there could be more arrests as the investigation continues.
