It’s no secret that Game of Thrones fans were notoriously difficult to please when it came to the final series of the show. There were loads of complaints all the way through, whether justified or not, but the last two episodes really took the biscuit for fans.
But HBO have stood by their creation, which some also said was the best thing they’ve ever watched. One of the most disputed scripts has been up put up for consideration for an Emmy award.
The ballots for nominations for the 2019 awards were released on Tuesday, and HBO had six episodes to choose from for its final series. Although the widely acclaimed ‘Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’ was one of the options it had – it decided to submit much debated episode, and series finale, ‘The Iron Throne’.

Although many fans are keen to put season eight firmly behind them, with some even starting a petition to get it rewritten, HBO have submitted the last six episodes for a range of awards – and rightly so according to many fans.
As with the episodes themselves, opinions on the nomination decisions are split – but many Twitter users seem shocked with the decision, with many just resorting to GIFs to show their disbelief.
But despite the seeming disappointment from many fans – Kit Harington and Sophie Turner have stood strong in their response to criticism from Game of Thrones viewers.
Kit, who played one of the show’s main characters, Jon Snow, hit back at GoT haters. Not holding back in the slightest, Kit took a swipe at people who have criticised the final series, in an interview with Esquire.
He said: “How I feel about the show right now is quite defiant.
“I think no matter what anyone thinks about this season – and I don’t mean to sound mean about critics here – but whatever critic spends half an hour writing about this season and makes their [negative] judgement on it, in my head they can go fuck themselves.”
Well that’s the end of that then.
