Anyone who’s ever flown will know just how nerve-wracking airports can be. As you approach the luggage scanners at security, you have a frantic rifle through your bags to make sure there’s no rogue bit of liquid hidden away anywhere – and yet you still find you’ve somehow accidentally left something in that pocket you never check, and your entire case is being searched by a stern airport worker.
Well, at least you’re not this passenger, whose unknowingly triggered a security alert with their luggage. Well, with one particular item.
The passenger was flying from Schönefeld Airport in Berlin, but staff became concerned when they checked their bag in routine X-ray checks. Inside the case, the workers spotted what they feared was a hand grenade, prompting them to raise the alarm and evacuate part of the busy terminal.
However, it wasn’t a hand grendade… it was, in fact, a sex toy.
According to RT, the owner wrote on social media: “When I arrived, the terminal was being evacuated. I approached a police officer and told him that I needed to check my bag with the baggage handlers.
“He asked my name and for my passport. He then spoke into his radio and several armed police swarmed me with automatic weapons.
“After 60 tense minutes, [the member of the bomb squad] returned laughing. The hand grenade was in fact a vibrator from Ann Summers that my girlfriend and I had purchased two weeks previous.”
Good to see the bomb squad saw the funny side of things, eh?
Unfortunately, RT reports that while the security team were in stitched, the poor passenger returned to find that they’d missed their flight home. Whoops.
A spokesman for the Federal Police confirmed the find to the Berlin’s Morgen Post newspaper.
The spokesman said: “The area around the luggage counter was shut off for an hour, which also affected some other check-in counters.”
Another person who was left feeling a little red-faced from their, erm, adult item was a student who recently left her sex toy on her desk at her family home when she returned to uni.
Knowing that her mum would inevitably go into her room to tidy up, the student franticly sent a message to her brother Chris, saying: “I need you to move something from my desk asap.”
She added: “Pretty sure it’s on my desk because that’s where I emptied my bag.
“I’m sorry. It’s a dildo. I’m so sorry.”
But it turned out her mum had already clocked it – thankfully being too polite to say anything, and instead neatly placed it next to her pens and pencils.
Yup, now that’s awkward.
